NBA Pre-Season 2017
The Kyrie Irving/Isaiah Thomas Trade8/28/2017 In a strange and twisted turn of events, the NBA world has had the opportunity to briefly experience a world with superstar point guard Kyrie Irving on the Boston Celtics, and bundled Celtics vets Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, and Ante Zizic. While the trade sounded like fun, arguably more for one particular side than the other, the entire deal may soon be irrelevant; however, as the Cavaliers are expected to back out of the thought-to-be-completed trade if the Celtics do not offer more assets than originally agreed upon. Upon further inspection of the primary pickup for the Cavaliers, it was decided that Thomas' previously-sustained hip injury would pose too much of a threat to the point guard's future play. To supplement this liability, the Cavs front office came to the conclusion that a 5th asset, a 4th player, would make up for the possible injuring of a future player. Caused by this, has been a swirling of rumors over the past several days and hours. Who the Cavs will ask for, how the Celtics will respond, and if the trade will go through at all are among the most relevant questions. Until the trade is confirmed complete, the NBA community will be anxiously awaiting, just as they did when NBA Commissioner David Stern vetoed a Chris Paul-to-Lakers trade back in December of 2011.
